The central Library is using soul 2.0 software for library automation . All the data entry operation is completed in the year 2015. The use of bar –code will be adopted soon
Mission and Vision
The Central Library fosters intellectual growth and advances the mission of Abhayapuri College and affiliated communities by supporting excellence and innovation in education and research, managing and delivering information. In our daily work,we adhere to the principles of fairness and equality, and we believe that each user of the Library is unique and important. We aspire to provide the best possible patron experience while maintaining a comfortable, welcoming and secure place for study, research, work, reflection and interaction.
Library Collection Status
The Central Library is well stacked with 21,564 collections including Textbooks and Reference Books. The Book Bank Facility is available in the Library with a total collection of 1702 numbers. The purpose of the Bank is to help the financially poor students of the college. In the year 2015, there are 33 Numbers of Journals and Magazines in the central Library.
The Central Library , Abhayapuri College has enrolled itself into N-LIST Programme of INFLIBNET Centre from the year 2012 through which a Library user can access and download e-resources including both e-books and e-journals free of cost,online. The authorized users from colleges can now access e-resources and download articles required by them directly from the publisher's website once they are duly authenticated as authorized users through servers deployed at the INFLIBNET Centre. As an authoriozed User we can access 6000 + E-Journals and 97000 E-Books. There are other Offline resources of the College available in the central Library incorporated into digital Library such as Question paper’s of H.S. (Arts), H.S. (Science) B.A., B.Sc. examinations conducted by Gauhati University.
The Central Library has been also providing its readers the National and Local Dailies. However, online facilities are also available to read them.

Library Orientation Programme :
In Academic Library Environment, the Library Orientation Programme (LOP) is an essential service that is offered to the newly enrolled students, to orient them in accessing and using a variety of information sources effectively.Since 2012, every year, in the beginning of the academic session during the month of August and September the Orientation class for fresh admitted students specially H.S. 1st year and T.D.C. 1st Semester of both morning shift and day shift, arts and science stream are conducted.
To cultivate the READING HABIT among the student community in the college, the Central Library introduces Awards which are distributed annually. In the Academic year 2012-2013 on the Occasion of Librarian’s Day, 2 (two) students of the college were awarded Best Library User and Reader.

For the smooth functioning of the Library, some rules are confined by the Central Library Abhayapuri College.
The Central Library will remain open from 10.00 A.M to 4.30P.M.
Library Membership is Mandatory for all the Student of the College. Library Membership is open for the Teachers and Employees of the College also.
Library visitors are to write neatly his/her NAME, CLASS, ROLL NO. & Department in the register kept for the official Purpose in the Library.
Personal belongings such as bags, umbrellas, personal Books etc should be kept on the property counter.
Silence should be strictly observed in the Library.
Books will be issued on production of Library Identity Card or Borrowers Card.
Check the book thoroughly before leaving the Counter.
Books must be returned within 15 (Fifteen) days after issue date. Beyond that shall have to pay a fine of Rs 1.00 per day.
Categories Of Membership And Their Privileges:
(a) T.D.C. (Major) Students : 3 Books : 15 days
(b) T.D.C. (Pass Course) Students : 2 Books : 1 5 days
(c) H.S. Students : 2 Books : 15 days
Hygienic conditions must be ensured in the Library so that readers may be able to study in healthy atmosphere.
The Loss of Library Books must be brought to the notice of Librarian in written form immediately.
Readers are requested to maintain the order of Books in the shelves.
Library card will be tenable for one year only and shall be Non- transferable. At the end of the academic year, all book must be returned and obtain clearance certificate from the Library.
The Library Card should be renewed at the beginning of each academic year.
The Loss of Library Card must be reported immediately to the Librarian with a written application. Duplicate Library card shall be issued on Payment of Rs. 20 Only.
Loss of issued book should be reported to the Librarian immediately.
Any infringement of the Library Rules will render a member liable to cancellation of membership.
