Brain cancer survivors running an NGO to assist students with mental health issues, Zambian volunteers who volunteer at local charities and an artist reinterpreting human rights through fine art concepts are among those nominated for this year’s Hong Kong Prize. The award celebrates people who have made positive impacts in society with each finalist receiving HK$10,000 prize money and an invitation to Hong Kong.
The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize was designed to recognize scientists whose groundbreaking discoveries have significant societal ramifications, while simultaneously encouraging scientific leadership in Hong Kong. It is an independent merit-based award with an estimated value of HKD 2 Million provided by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, presented across four fields (artificial intelligence/robotics; life/health sciences/physical science materials/advanced manufacturing/FinTech). Each field should not award more than five persons/teams annually.
Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) is held annually to celebrate excellence in cinematic. A committee consisting of Hong Kong film workers and critics are responsible for selecting winners; ceremonies usually occur around April. Gold Prize recipients receive trophies; Silver and Bronze Winners receive medals. HKFA not only honors film work but also television and radio work.
At this year’s competition, over 8,000 entries from Asia were submitted, which were judged by an expert panel composed of experts in each field. Winners were announced at an exciting special event hosted in Hong Kong as a result of both hard work from the Organizing Committee and generous sponsorship support from sponsors.
Winners of the Hongkong Prize can expect their research to be featured in leading international peer-reviewed journals and be invited to attend world-class conferences pertinent to their field. In Hong Kong they may collaborate with top scientists and access top research facilities; plus they’ll have an opportunity to present it before an audience at an awards ceremony in Hong Kong.

Winners will be selected in three waves based on residency status: Southeast Asian residents first, followed by mainland Chinese, and finally international applicants.
