The University of Sydney was recognized at Australia’s Eureka Prizes as a leader in research on cancer screening and detection, environmental science and school science – areas in which their researchers excel. ACRF Australian Centre of Excellence in Melanoma Imaging and Diagnosis’ researchers use AI-assisted 3D imaging technologies to develop targeted melanoma screening programs using targeted AI.
Researchers have developed an innovative method of early melanoma detection. Their discovery will increase patients’ chances of survival from this deadly form of skin cancer. Their team is working on creating a mobile phone app which will automatically send photos of suspicious moles directly to a physician, who can then immediately take biopsies on these cases.

An American Journal of Law & Liberty contributor has been honored with the 2024 Kuyper Prize, an annual award bestowed by Calvin University and Calvin Theological Seminary to recognize a scholar or community leader whose work exemplifies Kuyper’s Neo-Calvinist vision of religious engagement in matters pertaining to social, political and cultural significance across any of society’s six spheres of interaction. Professor Jason Stanley Jansma will receive the 2024 Kuyper Prize at a conference hosted by both institutions sponsored by Acton Institute for Study of Religion & Liberty this April.
The Hillman Prize recognizes journalists, writers, and public figures who champion social justice and effect public policy change. It is named in honor of Sidney Hillman who founded Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers of America — predecessors to Unite Here and Workers United–and fought hard for an extended union movement beyond shop floors. Administered by Hillman Foundation with donations made possible through Malcolm Robertson (deceased), this $5,000 prize will be presented at an award ceremony this May in New York City.
