sidney pools

Nestled above Cremorne Point’s high water mark and offering spectacular views across Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, this historic pool is an attractive option for swimmers avoiding strong surf. Constructed originally as a rock pool by residents in 1894, it was later renovated in 1920s into its present form: 33m long two lane wide pool complete with timber boardwalk for relaxation after your workout, two lanes wide for lap swimming, timber boardwalk seating for enjoyable lap swimming sessions as well as plenty of shaded seating around perimeter – perfect for lap swimming workouts after your workout!

Ask any Sydneysider about Sydney’s legendary ocean pools and you are likely to hear tales of blissful days spent lazily splashing around or graduating to the vast expanse of the sea outside. From nestled along cliff edges or isolated reefs – such as Narrabeen or Wylies Baths which hinge off peninsulas – to swimming through these shallow enclaves during youth, memories will surely flood back!

Local councils and private individuals designed these pools as an answer to the harsh coastline of their state which was exposed to strong waves and the threat of shark attacks. Recreational and competitive swimmers desired a place where they could swim safely from strong waves or any possible attacks from sharks.

Swimming pools were also an invaluable way to stay fit and socialise with friends. Many clubs and associations were formed in order to encourage more people to swim more frequently and compete in various aquatic events for fun – making the pools an integral part of local communities.

New South Wales state government is committed to the preservation and restoration of pools across its state, and nearly 100 have been created in cities, suburbs and along coastlines since 2005. All local authorities oversee maintenance efforts while being regularly inspected to ensure swimmers’ safety.

The Health Department licenses and inspects public swimming pools (such as municipal, school, community and wading pools ), spas and spray grounds in order to protect bathers from injury and disease transmission while creating an enjoyable aquatic recreational experience for bathers. We do not inspect or license residential pools.
