The Hong Kong Prize and Other Global Initiatives

The Hong Kong Prize encourages innovative ideas on developing an Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme to support Hong Kong’s global development efforts and enhance its role as an international player. Kong Jie-yin of Hong Kong fencing fame has taken an important step toward earning her spot on the Tokyo Olympic 2024 team by winning gold at the Asian Games Jakarta and Palembang’s Men’s Individual Foil event. Her victory generated immense emotion across social media platforms globally; netizens praised her determination in taking on all challenges, encouraging her to show her full potential during Tokyo Olympic.

Hong Kong’s world-renowned racing scene came into sharp focus on Monday when the Jockey Club unveiled an incentive scheme rewarding trainers HK$200,000 per horse they train that finishes among the top three at this year’s Longines International Jockeys’ Championship. This move will further foster quality training ranks as the club strives to enhance performance at this year’s tournament.

On the art scene, the inaugural Hong Kong Art Prize by Sovereign Art Foundation featured nine local artists on its shortlist of 30 shortlisted, making up more than half of the final list and representing more than half of local representation at any prize in its history. Their works were auctioned at an event on May 17 and all proceeds going towards charity initiatives undertaken by Sovereign Art Foundation which provide underprivileged children with ways to express themselves through artwork.

Employees from its security and customer service departments are trained to inspect materials used, such as balls and the draw machine, for signs of contamination or damage; balls must also be stored securely; the same ones cannot be used twice consecutively in draws.
