On September 17, the winner of the 2024 Hongkong Prize scooped up a whopping HK$100 Million prize, making history by being the first time such an amount had ever been won in one single ticket draw. Notification will take place on October 5. To ensure fairness in their draws, employees from their security and customer service departments conduct regular tests of materials used – balls and draw machines alike – used in these prize draws, to ensure no set of balls is used twice consecutively for another prize draw.
The Hong Kong Prize, supported by the Government of HKSAR and Swire Group, recognizes high school teams demonstrating excellence across their studies and extra-curricular activities. Each award comes with a cash prize of HK$10,000 as well as certificates and book coupons as well as the potential opportunity to compete in an additional final round competition and potentially earn another prize of up to an additional HK$10k prize pool.
The Hong Kong Prize represents the utmost achievement of Hong Kong’s educational system and serves as an expression of its dedication and international standing in education.

This prize recognizes individuals or teams for their contributions to science & technology in Hong Kong – expect laureates to continue leading in their respective fields of endeavor after being awarded.
Hong Kong has long been known as a major hub for the global telecommunications industry, yet this distinction does not apply solely to this city. There are other companies within its borders which specialize in telecom, with some winning notable awards like Cathay Pacific, Chunghwa Telecom and HSBC being three examples that stand out.
Hong Kong excels at art, and the Hongkong Prize reflects this excellence. Recent recipients of this prestigious prize included Pakistani artist Sameen Agha for her sculpture “Home is a Terrible Place to Love”, and Vietnamese painter Nguyn C Tip with his piece PPE: Paint Palette Emulation. These winning works are currently on display at the Museum of Contemporary Chinese Art until September 25.
